Celebrate Christmas in Polynesia at the Polynesian Cultural Center

Join in the holiday cheer and celebrate with "A Gift for Sadie: Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child"

La‘ie, HI – December 4, 2008 – Although there won't be any snow, the Polynesian Cultural Center will be celebrating Christmas from Dec. 15 to 22 (closed on Sunday) with a unique Polynesian twist. "Christmas in Polynesia" returns this winter for a second year of exciting live performances, yuletide activities and special holiday dining options for the entire family.

New this year is an evening Christmas canoe ride through the PCC's lush lagoon. "A Gift for Sadie: Christmas Through the Eyes of a Child," will transport guests to the night of the nativity, as a mother narrates the Christmas story to her young daughter. Along with live re-enactments starting from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, the island villages will be outfitted with enough glimmering lights, cheery decor, and Christmas trees to get any Scrooge in the holiday spirit.

After working up a hunger, guests can dine at both the Ambassador and Gateway restaurants for a fraction of the cost. The Ambassador dinner buffet is priced at $20.00 per person and includes tender prime rib au jus, cold crab legs, sushi, baked mahimahi, and a bevy of sides, soups, salads and desserts. The Gateway dinner buffet will be available for $10.00 per person, and features a variety of entrees, sides, salads and desserts. These special prices will be available from Dec. 15 to 22 as well.

Christmas in Polynesia will also feature a variety of performances by local performing groups, hula halau, and PCC's own talented musicians and performers, as well as fun, family-friendly activities. Cheery holiday souvenirs, artwork, crafts and gifts will also be available for purchase.

Each ride is $8 for adults age 16 and older, and $5 for keiki 5 to 15. Kama‘aina Annual Pass holders will receive one free ride per night. Parking is $2 after 6:00 p.m. For more information, call Polynesian Cultural Center's ticket office at (808) 293-3333 or visit the PCC website at www.polynesia.com.

Founded in 1963 as a non-profit organization, the PCC has entertained more the 33 million visitors, while preserving and portraying the culture, arts, and crafts of Polynesia to the rest of the world. In addition, the PCC has provided financial assistance to 17,000 young people from over 70 different countries while they attend Brigham Young University-Hawai‘i. As a non-profit organization, 100 percent of PCC's revenue is used for daily operations and to support education.
