Polynesian Cultural Center's Christmas Lagoon Presents One-Of-A-Kind Holiday Celebration in Hawaii

Oahu students can enter Christmas Lagoon Art Contest, win tickets to special preview

Laie, Hawaii – November 8, 2013 – The Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) is presenting a fun and exciting winter wonderland celebration this holiday season that is being offered nowhere else in Hawaii – highlighted by a canoe ride on its beautiful lagoon.

Called Christmas Lagoon: The Light Within, this annual holiday experience is a festival of musical performances, beautiful displays, and hands-on arts and crafts that takes place on nine days – December 13, 14, 16 through 21, and 23 – starting each evening at 6:30 p.m.

“We invite locals and visitors to join us at the Polynesian Cultural Center for our Christmas Lagoon festivities and make this unique and entertaining event part of their holiday celebration,” said Alfred Grace, President and CEO of the PCC. “The holiday experience we are creating will be tremendously rewarding for family members of all ages and the source of wonderful memories in the years to come.”

The centerpiece of the PCC’s special holiday celebration is a scenic canoe ride through the meandering freshwater lagoon. Guests will enjoy the sights and sounds of elaborate lighting displays, decorations and ornaments, and traditional holiday songs performed by carolers as they glide through the PCC’s lushly landscaped grounds and past the authentic cultural villages.

Adding to the joy of PCC’s multi-cultural celebration will be special displays presented in tribute to the people and holiday traditions of China, France, Spain, Norway, and Russia.

Along with the canoe experience, guests can also enjoy holiday-inspired foods, arts and crafts exhibits, entertainment by choirs and bands, and train rides for children.
