Kilauea Volcano Update!
Polynesian Cultural Center on the Island of Oahu is safe to visit.
There has been considerable coverage of Kilauea's ongoing eruption on Hawaii's Big Island. We join in sending our prayers and aloha to our friends and families in the affected area. We have received many inquiries asking how Kilauea's activities affects us. We want to assure you that:
- The impact of the Kilauea eruption is limited to a small corner of the Big Island of Hawaii. It is still safe to visit other parts of the Big Island which has been largely unaffected by the volcanic activities.
- Air quality is in part dependent on weather conditions and wind direction. You and your guests can track it on a daily basis at EPA Air Monitoring.
- Visitors can be assured that the volcanic activities have had no effect on travel to other Hawaiian Islands such as Oahu, Maui, Kauai, Molokai, and Lanai.
- The Polynesian Cultural Center is located on the north shore of the island of Oahu, which is approximately 225 miles northwest of the Big Island. The Polynesian Cultural Center is unaffected by the volcanic activity and is welcoming visitors to experience the sights, sounds and hospitality of authentic Polynesia.
