Special Needs and Requests
Wheelchairs, Strollers, Lockers
The Polynesian Cultural Center provides guests a limited number of wheelchairs and strollers available with advanced reservations. There is a $20 deposit fee, $15 of which will be refunded when the wheelchair or stroller is returned.
Due to a limited number of wheelchairs, it is advised that you phone (808) 293-3044 or contact our Call Center to place your reservation for a wheelchair. You will need to have the following information handy:
- Name of party tickets are booked under
- Date of visit to the Center
- Time of arrival
- If you will require a regular or extra-large-sized wheelchair
- Polynesian Cultural Center order confirmation number
Please note that due to a demand for wheelchairs, your reservation will be held for up to one hour after your specified time of arrival. If you have not picked up your wheelchair by that time, your reservation will be forfeited. If you do not specify a time to pick up your wheelchair, your reservation will be released at 2pm.
Polynesian Cultural Center employees and contract employees do not push wheelchairs for guests or employees on PCC property. Wheelchair-bound guests, if they need to be pushed, must provide their own pushers while at the PCC. Under emergency conditions to protect life or render first-aid-type response, employees may push wheelchairs sufficient to move a guest from harms way or to medical assistance.
A limited number of day lockers are available near the front entrance on a first-come basis for a small rental fee.
Disabled Accessibility
All major areas of the Polynesian Cultural Center — including the canoe and Laie/Temple Visitors Center tours — are accessible to those in wheelchairs. As stated above, the Polynesian Cultural Center does not provide wheelchair pushing services. Guests must provide their own means to get around the center during their visit.
The Center offers a limited number of American Sign Language guides, available through advance arrangements with our Guests Services department.
Foreign Language Guides
The Polynesian Cultural Center offers a limited number of foreign language tours in Japanese, Cantonese, Mandarin, Korean, Russian, German, Spanish Italian, French and Portuguese for guests who purchase Super Ambassador and Ambassador Package tickets.
In addition, some foreign language tour operators are authorized to conduct tours at the Polynesian Cultural Center.
Almost all of the PCC's foreign language guides are students at the adjoining Brigham Young University-Hawaii, who are either from countries where these languages are spoken, or are former missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who developed high fluency while voluntarily serving in countries where those languages are spoken. The language abilities of the latter group usually surprise those visitors they assist.
