code of Religious Conduct
I acknowledge that the Polynesian Cultural Center (“PCC”) is a religious non-profit organization that is sponsored and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the “Church”). PCC’s purpose is to support the religious mission of the Church. I further acknowledge that PCC can only fulfill its religious purpose if its employees complete their job duties and live in a manner that is consistent with the Church’s sincerely held religious beliefs, teachings, and doctrine.
Consistent with the foregoing acknowledgements and as a condition of my employment with PCC, I agree to comply with PCC’s policies and the following standards of personal conduct:
Professionalism. PCC’s commitment to One ‘Ohana Sharing Aloha is consistent with the standards of Christian living taught by the Church. I will be gracious, courteous, and considerate of others. I will refrain from physical or verbal conduct that is harassing, that makes others feel unsafe, or that threatens the safety or wellbeing of others or their property.
Honesty. I will be honest in all of my dealings. Prohibited conduct includes stealing, cheating, providing false, incomplete, or misleading information, or being deceitful in any way.
Modesty. I will maintain a neat, professional, modest, and culturally respectful appearance that is consistent with the PCC Policy Manual and the religious mission of the Church.
Physical Health. While representing PCC in any capacity, participating in PCC activities, or being present on PCC property I will refrain from the use, possession, or sale of illegal drugs, alcohol, tobacco (or other vape or nicotine products), or other substances that are inconsistent with the Church’s teachings about health and wellness.
Chastity and Moral Conduct. The Church teaches that sexual intimacy is considered sacred and reserved exclusively between a man and a woman who are legally and lawfully married to each other. PCC employees are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that supports and is consistent with these sincerely held religious beliefs, teachings, and doctrine.
Communications. I agree, throughout my employment, to refrain from making public statements, publishing materials, or engaging in conduct that contradicts or undermines Church doctrine or teachings in the workplace, on social media, or in other forums. This extends to statements that challenge, ridicule, or advocate positions that are contrary to Church teachings on faith, the family, or other doctrines. I understand that this standard is necessary to preserve the integrity of PCC’s religious purpose.
I understand that a violation of the standards in this Agreement may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. The organization retains sole discretion to determine whether a violation has occurred and what disciplinary measures, if any, are appropriate. I further understand and acknowledge that nothing in this Agreement changes the at-will nature of my employment and I may be discharged by PCC at any time, with or without cause, without advance notice, for any other reason not prohibited by applicable law.
I acknowledge that I have had the opportunity to review this Agreement before signing. I voluntarily agree to comply with these standards as a condition of my employment with PCC, a religious organization, understanding that my adherence to these standards is necessary for PCC to fulfill its religious purposes.
